What the Bible Says About Love

Posted Jun 19 2009 12:00am
So many people have accepted the worldly view of love. That it is an emotion that cannot be controlled; we're just slaves to it's whims. This is not the Biblical definiton of love.

God is love. 1 John 4:8

Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy. It does not boast, it is not proud, it is not rude. It is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always hopes, always trusts, always perseveres. Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:4-9

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control. Galatians 5:22-23

I believe the Bible. Love is a choice of action. I cannot control my emotions, but I can control (with the help of the Spirit) how I behave. Everyone in my home, except the baby, has all of these verses memorized.
