Working On Your ADD? Reward Yourself

Posted Feb 03 2012 10:38am

Many ADD’ers around the world have been working on ways to manage their ADD/ADHD. There is a never ending source of information online, in books and through ADD coaching as well. Through the coaching process and just about every other source, I managed to make some great improvements in my life and learn what my strengths and weaknesses were with ADD.

Having climbed the mountain and won the battle, one of the little things many people including me tend to do, is forget to reward ourselves. Life’s little victories need to be acknowledged too. The work we put into accomplishing something, whether it is related to ADD or not, needs to have some reward attached to it sometimes. Recognizing yourself in a way that isn’t narcissistic or conceded is important, and being sure to give yourself a pat on the back sometimes matters. Taking a step back and realizing what you have accomplished is part of growing and learning. Maybe you’ll treat yourself to a vacation, a chocolate bar, a nice bottle of wine, an afternoon off work or that decadent dinner that you’ve been craving. Congratulations!
