In light of Daylight Savings, I’ve decided to make some changes to the blog. First of all, it’s got a new name ! I’ve wanted to get a “real” domain name for a while now, and this one seems to fit the bill. My husband and I affectionately refer to eating as hoggin’ so the new name seems appropriate for me.
Now that I’m a married woman, I want to change my focus from crazy, pre-wedding detox and crash diets, to a balanced approach to food and fitness. October has been a CRAZY month for me. I started it eating practically NO carbs (torture!) and ended it stuffing my face with take-out and Halloween candy! I think my weight has fluctuated a good 10 lbs, if not more, in a single month! That can’t be good…
So here’s the plan: November 1st marks my commitment to healthy eating again. Nothing too crazy– I’m going to be following principles from both The Raw Food Detox Diet AND UltraMetabolism . I’m looking for a happy balance that is right for me, and will be something I can maintain long term. Both books start off on the right foot: NO MORE PROCESSED SUGAR. That’s the first thing to go for me. And I think it will be the hardest, since my body is quite addicted at the moment. But going cold-turkey is the only way to go when it comes to eliminating the “white devil.” So, that’s my first mini-goal for the month. I think I’ll try taking this in baby steps. One goal per week. I’m way off track from the healthy girl I used to be, so I need to take it slow, so that the changes stick!!
As far as exercise goes, I’m in a bit of a jam. During my honeymoon, my husband and I took a romantic walk along the River Seine, which ended with some sort of foot injury for me! I’m not sure what exactly is wrong, but the top of my foot aches terribly when I try to walk, and I can’t wiggle my big toe! Looks like a doctor appointment is in my near future… ugh. So for now, I’m going to have to get creative with my workouts! Maybe some spinning classes at the gym? I guess that’s the good thing about injuries– they force you out of your exercise ruts!
I’ll do my best to document my meals, exercise and weight loss here on the blog, so we can see what works and what doesn’t! I’m willing to be a guinea pig.
