Can biofeedback (LENS) have negative effect for ADD treatment? Is there any medical proof that it might work for ADD?

Posted by LiShi

I have a child who was diagnosed and started receiving services as Asperger but now his special day teacher says he is more on the ADD (not ADHD though) side than Asperger's.  She encourages us to try Ritalin, but with all those horror stories we'd like to try alternative ways first. Also I am hoping to be able to make permanent improvements, so he would not be dependent on the pills his whole life.

I suggest you visit Ochslabs.com.  There are many resources linked there regarding studies available.  Generally LENS neurofeedback can be very helpfull for ADD or Asperger's.  Dr. Hallowell also uses LENS for ADD/ADHD clients with a lot of success.  He has some articles written regarding the use of LENS.  There is also a book out, "The healing power of LENS neurofeedback" written by Steven Larsen.  You can purchase it on Amazon.  Hope this helps.  Good luck.  Ochlabs also has a list of providers around the country.
