Like I mentioned before, I’m on a bit of an irregular blogging schedule lately due to my traveling… I’ll be back to normal on Wednesday!!!
I’ve had a crazy-busy weekend, but in a good way. My boss was kind enough to fly my husband in for the weekend, so that he can attend our company’s Holiday Party tomorrow night. It also happened to be myhusband’s birthday yesterday, so it was perfect timing! We got to celebrate it with some of our close friends here in Kansas.
First up on our to-do list…
Get him his first tattoo!!
…and maybe his last!
I sat with him and held his hand during the whole thing, and it looked like it HURT! In fact, even MY hand hurt from him squeezing it so hard!! I’ve always heard people say “Oh, it doesn’t hurt that bad.” But I’m telling you now, it looks like it hurts! Bad. On a positive note, he says he is no longer scared of getting a shot again! Ha ha.
Overall, I think he’s glad he got it (he’s wanted this tattoo for a while!) and it looks awesome. We went to a very reputable tattoo parlor, and I think they did a great job. The place was very clean and sterile– something that was really important to me!!!
Now there’s lots of cleaning and ointment to be applied, then we just wait for it to peel and scab. Gross! It should be looking more “normal” in about a week. I’m sorry to say that I don’t have any pictures to post of the tattoo experience yet– I used my husband’s camera to document it, but I’m not sure what he would want me to publicly show… so we’ll have to wait and see.
The rest of the weekend, we’ve spent Christmas-tree-hunting with our friends, and eating lots of meals out! I’ve definitely had an “off” weekend, eating-wise, so I’m kinda looking forward to getting back to my regular routine. I miss warmer weather, running and eating lots of fruits and veggies!!
I did manage to squeeze in a green smoothie for lunch, and I tried a new-to-me product:
I’ve been reading about Amazing Grass on the blog-world for a while now, but never really thought about trying it until I was out here and missing my green smoothies. While I’m at the office, instead of working from home like I normally do, I wanted to make sure my lunch smoothie had some staying-power to last me through the rest of the work-day. So, it seemed like a good time to give Amazing Grass a shot.
What I really love about Amazing Grass is that it’s organic, raw, gluten-free, dairy-free and soy-free. And it’s a really easy way to get some extra vitamins, minerals and protein!
I ended up using my one packet to make two smoothies:
My mom was interested in having a green smoothie, too, so I made Mother/Daughter smoothies. (in KU glasses! Rock Chalk!!)
They looked like sludge, but they tasted pretty good! I could definitely taste the difference using the Amazing Grass, but it wasn’t overwhelming or anything. It added a bit of an “earthy” taste. These smoothies had a blender full of spinach, water, 2 T. fresh lemon juice, 2 bananas, and 1 cup of frozen mixed berries. Enough for two 16 0z. smoothies! Yum yum!
(and that smoothie totally got me through the rest of the work-day!)Success!!
Time for me to snuggle up in my warm bed! It’s COLD outside, with a chance of snow tomorrow. Greeeaaat…. I love snow– but only when I can enjoy it from afar. (like the warm comfort of my bed!)
Not driving in it to get to work, and especially not waking up earlier to scrape my car! Ugh.
Hope you all have a good night!! Stay warm and cozy!!
